Triumph 650 Twin Accident Repair

There is nothing worse than being involved in an accident while riding a classic motorcycle. But if the worst does happen, it can still be possible to return your pride and joy back to its former condition once again.

This 1969 Triumph TR6R had a nasty collision with the pavement after the carburettor stuck open, causing the owner to lose control. Luckily no-one was hurt, but the motorcycle suffered some severe accident damage to the front end and along one side.

We were asked by the owner, and his insurance company, to provide an accurate quote for the repairs. Once agreed, we began the task of removing all damaged components to be either repaired, repainted or replaced.

We checked the front forks and frame thoroughly but, luckily for the owner, the motorcycle had only suffered from superficial damage from the surface of the road and the curb of the pavement. The motorcycle was a one year only US model of Triumph 650 twin, and had been painted in a one year only colour called Spring Gold. We worked closely with the paint sprayer and customer to make sure that the front mudguard and fuel tank respray matched the original colour.

A new Dunlop tyre was fitted, damaged cables replaced, various scratched rubbers and chrome parts were replaced. The freshly painted tank and mudguard were fitted, and the motorcycle was taken for a good long shakedown to ensure there were no other issues, after being handed back to a relieved owner to enjoy once more.
